About

“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion"—Albert Camus

Both professionally and personally, I approach this work from an intersectional, anti-oppressive lens; I am deeply committed to holding space for folks to explore their needs in a safe and supportive manner. I always strive to bring empathy, non-judgement, and humor (when appropriate) to the therapeutic relationship.

Hi, I’m Louise.

(she/they)

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Originally from the suburbs of DC, I have made a home in Durham with my partner and animals. I care deeply for radical liberation for all, nature and the natural world, and community. I derive joy in nurturing my various creative hobbies, spending time with the people and animals that I call my family, playing video games, traveling, attending concerts and live performances, and laughter.

I am, first and foremost, a human. As a clinician, I strive to bring my whole human self to therapeutic relationships. I’m an unabashed “horsegirl”, mother of dogs, art school dropout, neurodivergent, and a major proponent of “messy”.

What do I mean by messy? I’m not necessarily talking about the mess in the kitchen sink or pile of laundry on the floor, rather the messiness that comes with healing; looking at the parts that we avoid, being radically honest with ourselves, and unlearning patterns. Therapy can be difficult, exhausting, and uncomfortable. But that is where the healing is.

Ultimately, you are the expert on your life, and my role as a therapist is to meet you where you are at with non-judgement, support, and curiosity. My job is to empower folks to tap into their inner strengths to create change, meet their goals, and live authentically.
